2. PF/C Al Horford

If the Celtics really want to springboard their rebuilding process into serious Eastern Conference title contention, signing Al Horford to a max contract would be the first domino to drop in order to make it happen.

Horford, who is soon turning 30 years of age, has been as solid as they come on both ends of the floor over his first nine NBA seasons.

The four-time All-Star has averaged 14.3 points per game and 8.9 rebounds over the course of his career to date, with his defensive presence also being a major reason for his consistent success.

While Horford should provide a spark on both ends of the floor, the most important aspect of signing a player of his caliber would be the ability for the Celtics to make a strong pitch to other star free agents or trade candidates.

In today’s NBA, a team must acquire star talent to attract further star talent, making a potential Horford signing extremely pivotal to the Celtics rebuild.
