1. Oklahoma City Thunder

It stands to reason that Kevin Durant could find greener pastures with a different team. Due to the way that the 2016 NBA Playoffs ended for the Oklahoma City Thunder, however, one can’t help but feel as though he has unfinished business.

One also can’t help but feel as though the Thunder are on the cusp of greatness.

Oklahoma City blew a 3-1 series lead, but it looked dominant, at times, during Billy Donovan‘s first season. Steven Adams and Enes Kanter established themselves as high-caliber players, Andre Roberson showed two-way value, and Serge Ibaka was resurgent.

As for Durant and fellow superstar Russell Westbrook, that dynamic duo is essentially our generation’s John Stockton and Karl Malone—and it has the potential to be so much more.

Durant and Westbrook are generally regarded as two of the Top 5 players in the NBA. Westbrook made the All-NBA First Team in 2015-16, Durant won MVP in 2013-14, and both have earned their place as one of the league’s elite.

If nothing else, Durant can accept a short-term deal that’d enable him to make another run with Oklahoma City, and land a new contract under the $100-plus million salary cap in 2017 or 2018.

With unfinished business, Durant’s best move would be to re-sign with the Thunder.
