Miami Heat

The Miami Heat have done pretty well the last two years without LeBron James and while they have been relatively unlucky, they have managed to recover nicely.

With Chris Bosh‘s blood clot struggles, the Heat have become handcuffed. Bosh has been unable to finish the last two seasons due to his life-threatening condition and while the entire basketball world feels bad for him, he still made more than $22 million.

He will make $23.7 million next season.

Now, Pat Riley and the Heat are surely not feeling that they are getting a proper return on their investment and they may attempt to get out of paying Bosh so much money. His injury is so unnatural that the league may grant them the ability to take him off the payroll.

Regardless of if Bosh is healthy or not, the team must attempt to pay Hassan Whiteside what is likely to be a max deal.

He is one of the top centers in the league and certainly deserves the money, but with Bosh and Wade on the roster commanding more than $20 million apiece, it will be difficult to get a deal done AND add another piece.

It may be difficult to hear for Miami fans, but the best course of action may be to let Whiteside go in order to add multiple quality pieces to replace his production. Pau Gasol would fit very well in South Beach, as would Mirza Teletovic as a floor spacer for Goran Dragic and Wade.
