Larry Bird has never been shy to add his input into the happenings in Indiana, and it’s very likely that he will look to add a star level player that pairs well with Paul George. I believe they should try and add Al Horford to play with George and Myles Turner, but that is unlikely to happen.
Most believe that a guard should be added, but the fact remains that the Pacers will be active in pursuing a player to complement George. With the 20th and 50th selections in the 2016 NBA Draft, it’s unlikely that a star could simply be drafted.
Looking in free agency and pursuing trades will be the most likely course of action. Monta Ellis, George Hill, and Rodney Stuckey have all proven to be serviceable in the backcourt, but none of the three have stepped up to assume a true second-in-command role to George.
Turning those players and possible picks into a star would not only be enough to make a splash in the playoffs, but it also might be enough to recruit a second high quality player to Indianapolis.
