Center. Cibona Zagreb. Ante Zizic . 28

Zizic is a modern NBA center, standing at just under 7’0” with a solid wingspan and acceptable athleticism. He works without the ball, runs the floor well in transition, and has the tools to be a consistent pick-and-roll scoring option.

Ivica Zubac is ranked higher on many draft boards, but Zizic is a much better fit for what Phoenix does offensively.

Zizic compares favorably to a former Suns big man: Marcin Gortat. He excels in working the pick-and-roll, works hard on the offensive glass, and is solid enough fundamentally to score the occasional bucket via a post-up.

Zizic has the tools to be a solid rotational asset and, in a perfect world, a starting-caliber center.

Analysis

Having already selected Jaylen Brown and Marquese Chriss, it’s fair to believe that the Phoenix Suns don’t need a forward. With a backcourt that consists of Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, Archie Goodwin, and Brandon Knight, it’d be hard to justify their selecting a guard, either.

Alex Len has yet to secure the long-term role at center, and that makes Ante Zizic the most rational selection at No. 28.
