Point Guard. Kentucky Wildcats. Tyler Ulis . 26. player

Ulis is undersized at 5’10” and 149 pounds, but he’s one of the best playmakers in this draft class. He posted an obscene assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.5 this past season, averaging 7.0 assists to just 2.0 turnovers as Kentucky’s primary ball-handler and facilitator, and No. 2 scorer.

It stands to reason that, if nothing else, Ulis can provide a responsible pace to the 76ers’ offensive attack.

Aside from their similar size and build, Ulis plays a style that’s comparable to Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas. He’s not afraid to pull up and shoot from extreme distances, is crafty around the basket, and is a genuinely solid facilitator.

There’s not much in-between for a 5’10” point guard; it’s either extreme highs or polarizing lows. Ulis projects closer to the former.

Analysis

The Philadelphia 76ers’ need for a point guard has been greatly alleviated by the selection of Ben Simmons. Nevertheless, Philadelphia owns two of the past three selections, and thus, it must weigh its options at the position.

At the very least, Tyler Ulis can be a floor-spacing asset who takes care of the ball and competes without relent.

2 scorer.
