Few 2016 NBA Draft prospects are as intriguing or polarizing as Jaylen Brown. What makes him special? Why might he fail?

No word holds as much weight in NBA Draft circles as, “Upside.” It’s an undefinable term that attempts to encompass the countless traits that go into defining how good a player could potentially become.
In the 2016 NBA Draft, no player’s upside is quite as polarizing or alluring as that of California Golden Bears small forward Jaylen Brown.
Brown is the prototype for an NBA wing, possessing the size, length, strength, and athleticism of a star-caliber player. He’s generally raw in all other areas, but he did enough during his freshman season to earn significant draft hype.
The question, of course, is how far can he take that?
Brown finished the 2015-16 season with averages of 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 0.9 3-point field goals made per game. He posted a slash line of .431/.294/.654, and committed 3.1 turnovers and 3.2 fouls per game.
There are no shortage of reasons to both love and fear Brown. Here’s what they are.
