4. Iguodala’s Defense Was The Difference

In 38 minutes off the bench, Andre Iguodala finished with a mundane eight points, seven rebounds and three steals for a -2 plus/minus. But the numbers don’t truly reflect the monumental impact he had down the stretch of Game 6, when his defense on KD and Russ proved to be the difference.

When Iggy reentered the game with 6:33 left in the fourth quarter, the Warriors were down by four. From that point, the Dubs went on a 21-10 run to close the game, and though Iguodala only supplied two of those 21 points, all three of his steals — two pristine strips on Westbrook and one on Durant — came in that critical stretch.

People are going to focus on how the Thunder’s two superstars “choked,” but give Iggy and the Warriors credit: Their defense was absolutely stellar down the stretch of Game 6.

Iguodala missed all three of his three-pointers and his impact on the offensive end was limited, but with the season on the line, the Warriors’ sixth man turned in the best defensive performance of his career.
