Kareem Abdul-Jabbar — 38,387 Points

There are a number of players who possess the talent playing in the NBA, but there are only two who will get close and I can’t see them beating Abdul-Jabbar. LeBron James is currently in 11th position all time, still more than 11,000 points behind Abdul-Jabbar.

In order to dislodge Abdul-Jabbar from the top of the list, James would have to perform at his current level for six more seasons. James is on the wrong side of 30, so I can’t see this happening.

The other player is the all-around scorer of this generation, Kevin Durant. This is another long shot though. Durant is four years younger at 27 and still needs to score an improbable 2,000 points per season for the next 10 years to dislodge Adbul-Jabbar.

The closest active player to Abdul-Jabbar is Dirk Nowitzki, who is sixth all-time with 29,491 points, still just less than 9,000 points behind Abdul-Jabbar. Nowitzki is evergreen, but at 37 he does not have many years left in the league.

Abdul-Jabbar did not have the highest average at only 24.61 points per game. This has him at 15th all-time. Combine that with the second-most games of all-time (1,560) and you can see why Adbul-Jabbar will not be beaten.
