Timberwolves move down and select Henry Ellenson and Furkan Korkmaz

Denver Nuggets trade: 7th overall and 19th overall
Minnesota Timberwolves trade: 5th overall

The two biggest needs for the Wolves center around improving the outside shooting and finding a running mate for Karl-Anthony Towns.

They may not be able to do that with a single pick, but moving down and selecting two players would afford them that opportunity. With the possibility of Dragan Bender being drafted in the top four picks, the next best option is Henry Ellenson.

Ellenson is one of the most unheralded freshmen to enter the draft this year, but he has the size to operate at the power forward or center position, along with the IQ and versatility to excel at either.

With Towns’ best position undecided, drafting a player who can play both is an intelligent play.

The interesting factor is that the Denver Nuggets have picks to spend, and given that they likely want to move up to select one of their favorite players, the Wolves could take advantage and add another first round selection.

Furkan Korkmaz could be a draft and stash selection, but he’s quite possibly the best shooter in this draft. At 18 years old, he’s also one of the youngest and his versatility would allow him to be a solid backup to Wiggins initially.

Adding one solid prospect is great, but adding two would be even better for Minnesota.
