3. C Ivica Zubac, 7’1″ 260 lbs., Bosnia

If the Celtics really want to think outside the box at No. 23, Ivica Zubac could be a decent option out of Bosnia. Zubac is a 7’1″, old-school, back-to-the-basket big man.

While the fit is questionable given the offense that the Brad Stevens runs, Zubac’s ability to block shots and rebound would be a welcomed addition to next year’s Celtics team.

There are a few obvious questions about Zubac though, beginning with the health of his feet. He has overcome multiple foot and ankle surgeries, which is not uncommon for somebody his size.

Unfortunately, the ramifications of leg injuries for big men can be catastrophic (Greg Oden, Yao Ming, Joel Embiid just to name a few). If Zubac proves that he’s healthy, it could go a long way to determining if he remains as a first-round prospect, and even a pick for the Celtics at No. 23.

At this point in the draft, GM’s look for developmental-type talent, and Zubac would be no different here. His size and strength would be the reasons to justify the selection, as Danny Ainge continues to look for his next enforcer on the block.
