5. PF Brice Johnson, 6’11” 209 lbs., North Carolina

Let’s get the knocks out of the way first for UNC all-everything forward, Brice Johnson. First, his mid-range jumper still needs some work to become a bit more consistent. Secondly, he’s a senior.

That’s about it.

Johnson does just about everything else well. Whether it is guarding perimeter players out on the wing, or blocking shots at the rim, you can all but guarantee that he will come to play on the defensive end of the floor.

Additionally, as he exhibited many times this season, he can singlehandedly change the outcome of a given game with his ability on the glass.

He averaged 10.4 rebounds in his senior season, which included two separate efforts against Duke of 21 rebounds and 19 rebounds respectively, with his season high coming against Florida State, when he grabbed 23 boards to go along with his 39-point effort.

If all else fails, coaches and general managers alike can count on Johnson’s athleticism, which is second-to-none when measuring up against the rest of this draft class.

He is a safe pick, and one that can definitely help the Celtics on both ends of the floor in the near term, as well as into the future.
