Quicken Loans

Quicken Loans was founded in Detroit in 1985. The private mortgage lending company was founded by Dan Gilbert, who owns the Cleveland Cavaliers. Naturally, Quicken Loans holds the naming rights to where the Cavaliers play. Gilbert, however, is from Detroit and is investing in Detroit, despite his sports ties to Cleveland.

Quicken Loans is the second largest retail lender in the U.S. and the largest online retail mortgage lender, according to Yahoo Finance. The company employs 13,000 people with 11,000 (84.6 percent) of those people located in Detroit, according to Crain’s Detroit Business.

The company’s prominence in Detroit makes it an ideal fit. But would Gores strike a deal with rival owner, and friend, Gilbert to advertise on the Pistons’ jerseys? Don’t completely rule it out.
