Offense, offense, offense. The Celtics need more of a scoring punch desperately and the Naismith National Player of the Year affectionately referred to as “Buddy Buckets” is the perfect pick from a scheme standpoint to slide right into the fold with the C’s and contribute right away.

As a jump shooter, there may not be a better prospect in the entire draft than Buddy Hield. His spot-up game and work off the pick-and-roll speak for themselves, as manifested in nearly every highlight clip from his senior year at Oklahoma.

Over his four years with the Sooners, Hield has shown solid improvement off the dribble, even becoming explosive at times when attacking the rim.

Defensively, Hield continues to be a work-in-progress, but is far from the worst prospect on that end of the floor in this draft.

Additionally, like a couple of the other players I have highlighted so far, he is a tad undersized and will need to put on some muscle to become an effective 2-guard at the next level.

At the end of the day, this is an extremely safe pick for Danny Ainge and the Celtics, as they will be able to count on Hield’s strong work ethic and humble roots as he works to develop as the player that everyone expects him to be.
