Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder

You know what they say about Russell Westbrook, he’s the Thunder’s kryptonite just as well as their spark plug.

The speedy All-NBA lead guard for the Thunder led the show against the San Antonio Spurs, averaging, 25.1 points, 10.5 assists, 6.5 rebounds and two steals in the six-game series.

After struggling in Game 1 of the series, when he shot 5-for-19 was a minus-29 in OKC’s 32-point pounding, 124-92, Westbrook answered the call in Game 2 scoring 29 points and dishing out 10 assists.

The knock on Westbrook for so long was that he could not handle being a point guard as a facilitator. Over the past two seasons, Westbrook has done his best to ditch the stigma with a number of triple-double performances.

And while his scoring efficiency was less than 50 percent from the field against the Spurs, Westbrook showed he could facilitate with a total of 63 assists in the series.

Russ also showed his ability to stifle the defense, playing the passing lanes.

In a pivotal road game with the series tied at 2-2, Westbrook 35 points, grabbed 11 boards, dished out nine assists and two steals to lead the Thunder to a 95-91 win in Game 5.

With 6.3 seconds remaining he converted on an and-one play to ice the game.

Other Notable Point Guards

Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors: In a seven-game series against the Miami Heat, Kyle Lowry finally appeared to be his All-Star self again. He averaged 23.4 points, including three games of at least 33 points, helping lead the Raptors to their first Eastern Conference Finals.

Stephen Curry, Golden State WarriorsThe unanimous MVP only appeared in two of the Warriors five games against the Portland Trail Blazers but he looked great in each of those games. In Game 4, Curry put on a show scoring 40 points, adding nine rebounds and eight assists. He followed that up with 29 points and 11 assists.
