For as gifted as the Denver Nuggets’ surplus of big men may be, there isn’t a rim protector between them. Nikola Jokic showed potential as a shot-blocker, but he’s not the caliber of athlete that’s often required to control the paint in the modern NBA.

Deyonta Davis is an outstanding shot-blocker—3.9 per 40 minutes—and offensive rebounder—4.4 per 40 minutes—who could be the two-way player Denver needs at the 4.

Davis had a wonderful showing at the 2016 NBA Draft Combine in the sense that his measurements were all better than expected. Previously listed at 6’9.5″ and 212 pounds with a 7’1.5″ wingspan, he measured at 6’10.5″ and 237 pounds with a 7’2.5″ wingspan in Chicago.

That inevitably created even stronger interest in a player who’d already captured the imagination of the masses.

Davis is an intelligent player whose understanding of the game progressed tremendously throughout his freshman season. His defensive gifts are well-documented, but offensively, Davis is a very good passer, is comfortable playing along the perimeter, and moves well without the ball.

Davis needs to improve his jump shot and low-post fundamentals, but his rapidly improving basketball IQ paints a promising picture.
. Power Forward. Michigan State Spartans. Deyonta Davis . 15. player
