2. Mike Conley

Now we get into the big guns. Last season, the Mavs’ guard play offensively was actually pretty solid.

Deron Williams was one of the best clutch time players in the NBA last season, and along with Raymond Felton, helped Dallas squeak out a lot of wins that could have easily gone the other way.

But Williams opted out of the last year of his contract with Dallas, leaving the Mavs with a gaping hole at the point guard position.

Mike Conley could fill that void very nicely and, quite frankly, improve it. Conley is a solid offensive player with a good three-point shot. He also has great vision, and has the ability to find the open man from almost anywhere on the floor.

Finally, Conley is a great pick-and-roll player, something that guys like Dirk Nowitzki and Chandler Parsons thrive off of.

But its not necessarily his offense that the Mavs covet the most. Conley is an elite defender, something the Mavs haven’t had at the point guard position in quite sometime.

His ability to contain quicker, more explosive guards at the point of attack is invaluable, especially to a team that struggled on the defensive end for a good majority of last year.

He would not come cheap, but the Mavs will have upwards of $32 million to spend on the upcoming free agent class, and Conley would be well worth the money.
