4. Raymond Felton

Yes, we know he played for the Mavs last season, but Felton is now an unrestricted free agent heading into this offseason and the Mavs cannot afford to lose his clutch-time presence.

While his career has been far from smooth sailing, Felton was able to find a home in Dallas under Rick Carlisle. He has an innate ability to come up big when it really counts, which he did for Dallas plenty of occasions last season.

The Mavs’ guard depth, especially with the uncertain future of Deron Williams (though most believe he wants to stay in his hometown), is shaky at best.

Only J.J. Barea and Devin Harris are under contract right now, so making sure that position remains intact as one of the Mavs’ strengths is a must.

Recommissioning Felton at the mid-level exception or a bit more would certainly help in that area, but it would also re-assert a backcourt scoring option off the bench that is a necessity for any team who hopes to compete.
