NBA: 20 Past Players That Would Have Owned Twitter
By Bill Speros
11. Magic Johnson
Magic Johnson has gained more than 3.05 million followers since he launched his @MagicJohnson account in February 2011. His posts cover random and often inane topics beyond his rooting interests in the Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers, along with various promotional posts concerning his business interests.
During his playing days, Magic was part of the Lakers team that won five NBA championships from 1980-88 and played in the NBA Finals nine times in his 13 seasons.
Magic stunned the world when he announced he was HIV positive in 1991, but managed to secure a spot in the all-mighty 1992 Olympic (and original) Dream Team.
Magic seemed to be a permanent fixture in some of the greatest playoff series ever. All of this while battling the likes of Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas.
As a player, it’s likely Magic’s Tweets would be similar to what we get today – the obvious without anything offensive to anyone.
Still, a vibrant social presence and his personal insight would have been a tremendous addition to the historic record concerning on of the game’s greatest all-around players.
