2016 NBA Draft: 8 Most Intriguing Prospects
Cheick Diallo – Kansas
Year: Freshman
Measurements: 6’9″, 218.6 lbs.
Stats: 7.5 MPG, 3.0 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 0.9 BPG
Slash Line: .569/.000/.556
Cheick Diallo didn’t see a lot of playing time due to a veteran front line the Kansas Jayhawks featured. Diallo played in 27 games and received minimal playing time. He averaged 16.0 PPG, 13.5 RPG and 4.6 BPG per 40 minutes. He was productive in the little playing time he did get.
Diallo, 19, is projected to go 25th overall to the Los Angeles Clippers in DE’s mock draft. His stock is certainly on the rise after a successful combine for him. At the combine, he averaged 13.5 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.0 BPG on 11-for-18 (61.1 percent) shooting. His draft stock should be on the rise thanks to a successful weekend in Chicago.
He is slightly undersized, but at 19-years-old he still has time to grow into his body. He has good strength and could be a small-ball center, similar to that of Bismack Biyombo. Offensively, Diallo gets a lot of points on offensive rebounds and pick-and-roll finishes.
Diallo will be a rebounding and defensive center entering the NBA. He defends against pick-and-rolls well and shows good mobility on the defensive end. Diallo is a prospect that could blossom with time into a significant role player.
