Michael Gbinije is one of the more intriguing second-round prospects in the 2016 NBA Draft. He’s an athletic shooter who can space the floor, which has placed him firmly on the radar.

With his performance at the 2016 NBA Draft Combine, Gbinije earned himself a fan in ESPN’s Jay Williams.

Williams isn’t inaccurate in his account of what transpired in Chicago.

Gbinije made a pair of 3-point field goals as he recorded 13 points and three steals during Thursday’s scrimmage. A day later, he stepped up to post 17 points, four assists, and four steals with another two 3-point field goals made.

That was a fair illustration of Gbinije’s value and potential role: 3-and-D.

Gbinije’s wingspan is somewhat underwhelming at just under 6’8″, but he’s tall, athletic, and active with his hands. He’s also a quality athlete who registered a 37.5-inch max vertical leap and had the fastest three-quarter sprint of any prospect.

With top-tier end-to-end speed, NBA-caliber leaping ability, quality size, and a nice jumper, Gbinije could be a quality pickup in the second round.
