If you’re looking for a phrase to describe how Wade Baldwin IV measured at the 2016 NBA Draft Combine, good luck. It won’t be easy to look at his measurements for the first time and not let out an expletive or two.
It’s well-documented that Baldwin is an impressive physical specimen, but not many expected him to be this impressive.
Baldwin measured at 6’4″ and 202 pounds with an unbelievable 6’11.25″ wingspan. If that weren’t enough to intrigue the masses, he ranked No. 2 in the lane agility drill, was No. 7 in the three quarter sprint, and ripped off a 38.0-inch max vertical leap—No. 5 amongst point guards.
For what it’s worth, Baldwin, who was already a Top 20 prospect, has a longer wingspan than the likes of Gilbert Arenas, Shaun Livingston, and Dwyane Wade.
Baldwin is a skilled facilitator and a very solid 3-point shooter who converted better than 40 percent of his attempts in both of his collegiate seasons. He needs to improve his finishing ability against length, but with his physical tools, that’s all a matter of coaching.
Baldwin IV may have booked himself a ticket into the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery.
