4. David Blatt

When the Cleveland Cavaliers originally hired David Blatt, the successful European coach was meant to develop Kyrie Irving and a cast of younger players. Then LeBron James decided to return home and Blatt was eventually (unfairly) ousted under the pressure of coaching a team with championship aspirations.

How about the Magic bring in Blatt to do the job he was originally meant to do in Cleveland? Orlando has a young roster with quite a few tantalizing pieces. From Elfrid Payton to Aaron Gordon to Victor Oladipo, Blatt is a more nurturing presence who would still demand excellence while also putting his reputation as a player development coach to a more appropriate test.

Blatt has not been mentioned in any official report for the Orlando job, and he’s been linked to the New York Knicks’ vacancy, but he could be an under-the-radar option for a young roster in need of some fostering.
