Jordan Hill

Hill had a productive regular season in his first year with the Pacers before virtually disappearing from the rotation during the playoffs for reasons that remain unclear.

In 20.7 minutes per game over 73 games, Hill averaged 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 50.6 percent from the field.

Hill played just 15 minutes total in the Pacers’ first round loss to the Toronto Raptors, appearing almost exclusively in garbage time.

Hill is a great backup big man, who can play both the power forward or center spot and can provide spot starts when called upon.

In today’s NBA, it’s expected that big men either protect the rim or help spread the floor with shooting ability. Hill does neither, but still finds a way to produce with hustle, rebounding and enough of a midrange shot to keep defenses honest.

Keep Him or Let Him Go?

Keep him. Hill is a quality big man who belongs in an NBA rotation. His versatility with playing either of the traditional big man positions is valued. He’ll most likely be relatively cheap, which is the primary reason the Pacers should retain him.

If for some reason his price tag goes up, he can be let go and replaced for cheap, but he’s a better version of Lavoy Allen.
