Here are 5 main takeaways from the San Antonio Spurs’ Game 5 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder were tied at two games apiece coming into Game 5 of their second-round playoff series. Being that these teams split the first four games of their previous postseason encounters (2012 and 2014); this shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
As was the case in Game 4, the Spurs took a lead into the final frame. Unfortunately, for the second straight outing, they were unable seal the deal (more on that later).
Leading 88-82 with four minutes left to play, the Spurs were in position to take control of the game, but the Thunder had other ideas. Thanks to a 13-3 run, capped off by Russell Westbrook’s three-point play in the final seconds, the Thunder came out on top 95-91, pushing the Spurs to the brink of elimination.
Here are five takeaways from the Spurs’ heartbreaking loss in Game 5.
