If you went to bed before the end of the Golden State Warriors‘ Game 4 overtime victory against the Portland Trail Blazers Monday night, you missed out on NBA greatness.

Facing the prospect of a tied series in the Western Conference semifinals and a raucous Moda Center crowd, the Dubs had one bit of good news on their side: the return of soon-to-be repeat MVP Stephen Curry, who had missed the last two weeks due to a knee sprain.

The news was terribly exciting and nerve-wracking all at once. Would Curry be his regular, otherworldly self? How much rust would he have to shake off? Would the Dubs even need him, or would they be able to ease him back into the action?

In a historically memorable overtime affair, all those questions were answered. Despite 36 points and 10 assists from Damian Lillard, 24 points from C.J. McCollum and an 18-13 double-double for Al-Farouq Aminu, the Dubs were able to overcome an early 16-2 hole and improve to 11-0 this season in games following a loss.

The Warriors have yet to lose back-to-back games in the 2015-16 campaign, they moved to 80-11 overall with the victory and in an unforgettable extra period, Curry conjured up well-deserved Forest Gump comparisons in a back-and-forth affair where he simply took over down the stretch.

Curry finished with 40 points on 16-of-32 shooting in his highly anticipated return to action, living up to the hype and then some to give the Dubs a 3-1 series advantage. Here’s a look at Curry’s historic night and everything else we learned about the Warriors in the MVP’s triumphant return.
