Golden State Warriors – Kevin Durant

The Warriors have an embarrassment of riches, and watching the rumors fly that they want to add Kevin Durant as well has to be a painful thought for the rest of the NBA.

With Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in the fold, Durant isn’t even needed to generate offense, but he would certainly be a welcome addition. This is one team where he would be either the primary or secondary ball handler, and that’s what makes the fit so interesting — that and the star power.

Finding touches for everyone won’t be an issue for Steve Kerr’s squad, even if Durant is added. The main issue would be the potential subtractions to the roster. In order to add another max contract (Durant isn’t taking a pay cut) the Warriors would have to renounce the rights of most of their free agents, including Harrison Barnes, Shaun Livingston and Festus Ezeli, and possibly trade Andre Iguodala and Andrew Bogut. Those are five core rotation members, and while it might not be THAT bad, it certainly isn’t good.

Even still, the possibilities are endless with Durant in the fold, and for a team that just won 73 games, that’s a scary prospect.
