When You Drain, You Reign

The Cavaliers came into Game 2 averaging 14 three-pointers per outing. However, they shattered that mark in this contest to put it mildly.

In the first half alone, the Cavaliers converted 18 of their 27 attempts, besting the previous record of 12 3s in a half set by the Golden State Warriors this season. By the time the game had mercifully come to an end, the Cavaliers connected on 25 of their 45 attempts from beyond the arc, setting an NBA record for most three-point field goals in a regular season or playoff game.

The previous postseason record of 21, was set by, you guessed it, the Warriors in Game 4 of their first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets.

To put the Cavaliers’ long-distance barrage into perspective, it should be noted that 10 different players hit at least one three-pointer, while the Hawks managed just 11 as a team. Additionally, this marks the second time the Cavaliers have converted 20 three-pointers in four home postseason contests.

The previous occurrence took place in Game 2 of their first-round series against the Pistons.

"“When they put those shots down, I don’t know if anyone can beat them, to be honest,” Kyle Korver said via ESPN. “We were hoping that they’d start missing at some point.”"

The Cavaliers never did, and if they continue to shoot the long ball at this rate, this series will be over in a hurry.
