Grant Long. 19. player. 211. Experience: 14th year, Eastern Michigan. PF. 2001-02 Memphis Grizzlies

Grant Long had enjoyed a long, if not all that distinguished NBA career as he moved with the Vancouver Grizzlies to their new home in Memphis in the summer of 2001.

Long was long past the point in his career where he should have been depended upon to play starter’s minutes, but the 35-year-old started 56 games for the Grizzlies in 2001-02 as the team tied a franchise record with 23 victories—the same as in their last season in Canada.

Long played in 66 games and averaged more than 28 minutes per game and his production could best be described as “yeah, he was there.”

Here are his per-game numbers:

Long had been a second-round pick by the expansion Miami Heat in the 1988 NBA Draft and wound up a starter for the club for more than six seasons before being dealt to the Atlanta Hawks early in the 1994-95 season.

After a bit less than two seasons with the Hawks, he spent two seasons with the Detroit Pistons, one back in Atlanta, three with the Grizzlies and a final season with the Boston Celtics before retiring in 2003.
