NBA: 25 Worst Individual Seasons Of The 3-Point Era
By Phil Watson
Sidney Wicks had been an NBA All-Star in each of his first four NBA seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers after being the second overall pick in the 1971 NBA Draft.
The former UCLA star had been traded to the Boston Celtics in 1976 and he was acquired by the San Diego Clippers in an August 1978 deal.
The Celtics sent Wicks along with Kermit Washington, Kevin Kunnert and the rights to Freeman Williams to San Diego in exchange for Tiny Archibald, Marvin Barnes, Billy Knight and second-round draft picks in 1981 and 1983.
In his second season with the Clippers, the 30-year-old Wicks cratered, averaging 7.1 points on 42.3 percent shooting as San Diego finished three games out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
