NBA: 25 Worst Individual Seasons Of The 3-Point Era
By Phil Watson
Jason Collins played in the NBA Finals with the New Jersey Nets in each of his first two seasons in the NBA, but by 2006-07, the Nets were no longer major players in the Eastern Conference.
Collins, after five years with the club and four as the team’s starting center, was shifted to power forward by coach Lawrence Frank for his sixth season with the club.
The results were … less than optimal. His production had been in a steep decline for a season already and he bottomed out in 2006-07, averaging 2.1 points and four rebounds despite starting 78 games and playing more than 23 minutes a night.
It was simply the worst season ever cobbled together in the 3-point era of the NBA.

The Nets retained him for another season before he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies to begin the vagabond portion of his career.
Over 13 NBA seasons, Collins also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards before making a well-publicized comeback with the Brooklyn Nets in 2014 after coming out publicly as a homosexual, the first active athlete in one of the major North American sports to do so.
