Dickey Simpkins. 2. player. 24. Experience: 6th year, Providence. PF. 1999-2000 Chicago Bulls

Dickey Simpkins had been around for the last three of the Chicago Bulls’ six championships in the 1990s, but after a brief stint with the Golden State Warriors came back to Chicago for the rebuilding years.

In 1999-2000, Simpkins started 48 games at power forward for the Bulls, who were just 17-65 in the second year of the post-Michael Jordan era.

He had started at center the previous year and wasn’t horrible, but the move back to the power forward slot left him a spectator during much of his 23.9 minutes per night.

Simpkins had been the 21st overall pick by the Bulls out of Providence in the 1994 NBA Draft and was with them for championships in 1996 and 1997, though he was inactive for the postseason both years.

After being traded to the Golden State Warriors in September 1997, he returned to the Bulls after he was waived in February 1998 and picked up a third ring.

He signed with the Seattle SuperSonics in October 2000 but didn’t make the regular-season roster and played the 2000-01 season in Greece. He didn’t make the Los Angeles Lakers regular-season roster that fall but did get a three-day NBA stint, playing three minutes of one game for the Atlanta Hawks before fading from the NBA.

Simpkins played in the Continental Basketball Association as well as in Greece, Puerto Rico, Russia, Lithuania, Spain, the Philippines, Lebanon and Germany before finally retiring in 2006.
