NBA: 25 Worst Individual Seasons Of The 3-Point Era
By Phil Watson
Much-ballyhooed combo guard Austin Rivers fell to the New Orleans Hornets at the 10th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and fans there had visions of him teaming with top overall selection Anthony Davis to be the backbone of the franchise for the next decade.
Yeah, not so much.
Rivers had a nightmarish rookie season, playing in 61 games and starting 26, but unable to find his shooting range from anywhere, struggling inside, outside and at the line.
But at least there was that 2.1-to-1.2 assist-to-turnover ratio.
The Hornets weren’t markedly better, going 27-55 after finishing 21-45 in the lockout-shortened 2011-12 campaign.
Here are Rivers’ per-game numbers:

Rivers remained in New Orleans until January 2015, when he was part of a three-team deal that sent him to the Boston Celtics. He never suited up for Boston, traded three days later in another three-team swap that sent him to play for his father, Doc Rivers, with the Los Angeles Clippers.
He re-signed with the Clippers as a free agent in July 2015, signing a one-year deal with a player option for 2016-17.
