Anthony Avent went from the highs to the lows in November 1995, going from the NBA Finals with the Orlando Magic to the expansion Vancouver Grizzlies in a trade.
The fledgling Grizzlies won only 15 games in their inaugural season and Avent got a considerable amount of run at power forward, starting 32 games but failing to shoot even 40 percent from the floor.

Avent was taken 15th overall out of Seton Hall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 1991 NBA Draft, but his rights were traded twice on draft night, first to the Denver Nuggets and then to the Milwaukee Bucks.

He was stashed in Italy for a season before joining the Bucks in June 1992. He was traded to Orlando in January 1994.
After his rights were renounced by the Grizzlies in the summer of 1996, Avent played a season in Greece and a year in the Continental Basketball Association before returning to the NBA with the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers. He spent one more season in Greece before retiring in 2001.
