14. player. 27. Experience: Rookie, Arizona. PF. 1979-80 New York Knicks. Larry Demic

The New York Knicks selected a double-double machine out of Arizona with the ninth overall pick in the 1979 NBA Draft, but Larry Demic didn’t quite live up to the advance billing.

As a rookie, Demic got plenty of run for a Knicks team that did bounce back from 31 wins to 39, but Demic’s 43.6 percent shooting couldn’t have helped a lot, nor did the 3.2 turnovers and 5.9 fouls per 36 minutes.

Demic spent two more seasons in New York, with diminishing playing time in each, before bolting for Italy in August 1982.

He got looks with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers in the fall of 1984, but didn’t make another NBA regular-season roster, finishing out his career playing in the Philippines, Puerto Rico and the Continental Basketball Association before retiring in 1985.
