New Orleans Pelicans: Smoothie King

At some point in time, one has to believe that the business with its name on the arena will want to appear on the jersey. It’s the most surprising of venue names in the NBA, but only to those who live outside of the New Orleans area.

Smoothie King is one of the biggest and most profitable businesses in all of New Orleans.

The Pelicans’ venue is named the Smoothie King Center, which creates the easy and obvious in. Rather than going against the grain, New Orleans should embrace the fact they’ve already committed to promoting a business that was founded in the state of Louisiana.

Supporting local businesses is always commendable, and this qualifies as one of those instances.

Unfortunately, there are no corporate logos for Bourbon Street, The French Quarter, Mardi Gras or, “Change the name back to Jazz.” There are a number of wonderful businesses located across New Orleans, but Smoothie King is at the front of the venue’s name already.

Thus, local giant Smoothie King is the pick.
