Odds Each Denver Nuggets’ Player Returns Next Season
Will Barton – Age 25 – Guaranteed $3.67 million
Will Barton finished fourth in the Sixth Man of the Year voting this season and exceeded expectations in nearly every facet. He excels as a creative scoring wing with the capability to create his own offense. He can spot up on the perimeter, initiate the offense, and attack with open court speed in transition.
He also excels as a rebounder. He averaged 5.8 rebounds per contest at the small forward position most of the year, which would rank 14th overall and second among bench 3s. The interesting factor is that Barton has the size of a shooting guard and the main reason he played small forward was the injury to Wilson Chandler all year.
At the 2, he would rank third at the position in rebounding, showcasing just how valuable his skill there could be.
Overall, there is no true reason to move Barton unless the Nuggets can use him as a trade chip. He likely will never be a starter on the team, but he profiles as a legitimate bench weapon with the potential to get better. At only 25, I see no reason to actively move away from The People’s Champ – 90 Percent.
