2016 NBA Draft: Brandon Ingram Player Breakdown
Draft Projection: Top 3
The race to be the No. 1 overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft is limited in its list of realistic candidates. Ben Simmons was once perceived to be a lock to go No. 1 overall, but much has changed since he entered the collegiate ranks.
Simmons’ primary form of competition is Duke Blue Devils small forward Brandon Ingram.
Much could change between now and June 23, but the general consensus is that Ingram and Simmons are the premier prospects in this draft class. Dragan Bender is widely considered to be the No. 3 player, and he could usurp both Ingram and Simmons, but even he appears to be locked in at No. 3.
Bender may usurp one of Ingram or Simmons, but not many believe he’ll overtake both.
Other players must be acknowledged as threats, including Kris Dunn and Jamal Murray. Dunn is more likely to come off the board at a high point of No. 4 or No. 5, but Murray is a 6’5″ combo guard with an elite shooting stroke—also known in the modern era as qualifications for being a point guard.
It simply doesn’t make sense to project Ingram as anything less than a Top 3 pick.
