New York Knicks

The Knicks are far from the sexiest option on this list. On one hand they have Carmelo Anthony, an aging star that wants to maximize whatever is left of his prime. On the other they have rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis, who showed a tremendous amount of promise and appears to be everything you would want in a modern center.

New York always seems to consider themselves as a free agent destination, despite what recent free agent history would suggest. But the team deserves credit for the moves they made this past summer bringing in Robin Lopez, Kevin Seraphin, Kyle O’Quinn and taking a flier on Arron Affalo.

While they found themselves outside of the playoff picture, the moves weren’t intentionally flashy and might signal that this team is taking roster construction seriously. However, it’s hard to imagine that the Knicks will ever be a well-run organization as long as James Dolan remains owner.

While the Knicks will likely make a push for Conley and will have the room to add other pieces around he, Anthony and Porzingis, the reality is there are likely going to be better options available for Conley to pursue. There’s not exactly a ton of incentive for Conley to leave Memphis for the Knicks unless they offered considerably more money.
