The Detroit Pistons were locked in a tight game with the Cleveland Cavaliers and led the game for the majority of the first half. The second half was very different as the Cavs outscored the Pistons 52-37 to take a 107-90 win in Game 2 of the series.
Detroit now travels home facing a 2-0 series deficit and need to protect The Palace in order to stay competitive in their first playoff series in seven years. The Pistons were 26-15 at home during the regular season, and split the season series with the Cavs at The Palace.
Cleveland tied a NBA record for a playoff game by connecting on 20 three-pointers and they shot 52.6 percent from three-point range. Like the Pistons were hot shooting the ball in Game 1, it was the opposite in Game 2. Cleveland shot 50 percent from the field and the Pistons were down to just 43.6 percent.
It’s always going to be tough to overcome streaky shooting, but the real problem for the Pistons was allowing so many open three-point shots. Allowing the Cavs guards to get in the lane, collapse the defense and kick out to open shooters allowed shooters like J.R. Smith to shoot 7-for-11 from three-point range.

Smith’s 21-point performance single-handedly led the Cavs over the Pistons, thanks to his streaky shooting.
The Pistons have some adjustments that they need to make if they have any chances of getting back in this series. Playing in front of their hometown crowd could provide an extra energy boost that the Pistons need to overcome a tough run that the Cavs put together, or fuel a comeback.
It will take more than a hometown crowd for the Pistons to get back in this series. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving have put two strong performances together and look tough to stop as they set up other teammates.
