Heading into Game 2 of their first round series against the Houston Rockets, the Golden State Warriors faced a legitimate threat for the first time in the 2016 NBA Playoffs. With Stephen Curry sitting out due to a minor ankle injury, the Dubs had given their opponent a legitimate window to come into Oracle Arena, steal a road win and tie up the series at one game apiece.

Let’s just say the Rockets didn’t take advantage of the opportunity, with the well-balanced Warriors riding their chemistry, defense and a 34-point night from Klay Thompson to a 115-106 victory and sticking Houston in a 2-0 hole.

Draymond Green finished two assists shy of a triple-double, James Harden had another bad shooting night and the Dubs sent the series back to Houston with the Rockets facing the prospect of an abrupt four-game playoff exit.

But since the Dubs have their sights set on far more than this first round playoff series, and since Monday night was such a nice reminder of how good this team can be even without Steph Curry, here’s a look at the five biggest takeaways from Game 2.
