4. Phoenix Suns: Jaylen Brown, California Golden Bears

Position: Small Forward

Age: 19 (10/24/1996)

Height, Weight, Wingspan: 6’6.5″, 222 pounds, 7’0.5″

Slash Line: .435/.300/.651

Season Averages: 27.9 MPG, 15.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 2.0 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.7 BPG, 0.9 3PM

The Phoenix Suns have a decision that comes down to Jaylen Brown, Kris Dunn, and Jamal Murray. Due to the fact that Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, and Brandon Knight already call Phoenix’s backcourt home, Dunn and Murray, two guards, are ruled out.

Thus, Jaylen Brown steps in as the upside player to be developed in Phoenix.

Brown is a physically imposing player who stands at a muscular 6’7″ and 222 pounds with a near 7’1″ wingspan. He’s still raw in the development of his skills, but his physical gifts are enough to intrigue even the most jaded of general managers.

For Ryan McDonough, reaching for a Henry Ellenson or a Jakob Poeltl is entirely possible, but it’s Brown who makes the most sense at this current juncture.

Brown can help round out the Suns’ transition offense as an above-the-rim finisher who can get out and run. His defensive potential is immense, as well, and while he may not be consistent on that end just yet, the right coach can change that.

Whom the Suns hire as the next head coach will go a long way towards determining how successful Brown is in the NBA.
