Honorable Mention

This couldn’t be a complete list without an honorable mention list, would it? Here are a few coaches that could also be in consideration for head coaching positions this year, or in years to follow.

Becky Hammon: Hammon is an assistant with the Spurs. She became the first female coach in the NBA.

Stephen Silas: Silas is an assistant with the Charlotte Hornets. He is the son of former NBA coach Paul Silas.

Ime Udoka: Udoka is an assistant with the Spurs. He is on some fans’ short lists as a head coach and could be on a few team’s lists as the coaching carousel goes around.

Ryan Saunders: Saunders is an assistant coach with the Timberwolves. He was also an assistant under Randy Wittman with the Wizards. He is the son of the late Flip Saunders.

Lionel Hollins: Hollins was fired earlier this season by the Nets. The former head coach also coached the Memphis Grizzlies. His experience as a head coach could land him in finalist conversations.

J.B. Bickerstaff: Bickerstaff is the current interim head coach for the Rockets. He should be given consideration for the Rockets coaching position, as well as a few others if he doesn’t land in Houston.
