Denver Nuggets: 5 Memorable Moments From The 2015-16 Season
Getting the Best of Lawson
The schedule makers knew exactly what they were doing on the NBA’s opening week with Ty Lawson facing off against the Denver Nuggets back on Oct. 28. It was meeting of the reluctant former leader of the franchise and his new replacement.
Lawson began drinking irresponsibly, was arrested for a DUI on multiple occasions and publicly shared his displeasure with the franchise about wanting to be out, going so far as posting a video on social media when the Nuggets drafted Mudiay, hypothesizing that he was going to Sacramento.
He ended up in Houston, playing his former squad in game one.

The game was never really close and it was awesome for the Nuggets. They won by 20 points, 105-85, and held Lawson to 12 points on 30 percent shooting with a plus/minus of -16.
Mudiay, despite a terrible 11-turnover performance, scored 17 points and dished out nine assists.
Nuggets fans have a history in rejoicing after shellacking former players teams after they ask out of the organization — just ask them about Carmelo Anthony.
That was a great night for the Nuggets, one-upping a former franchise favorite.
It was even sweeter when Lawson made his first trip back to the Pepsi Center in November. A 0-for-7 shooting game mixed with a 107-98 victory for Denver closed that chapter for good. A nice little reminder for Ty, the grass isn’t always greener.
Beating Houston all three times this season after Lawson forced his way out and then struggled mightily against his former crew was a spectacle for a young team struggling to find wins.
