5. Houston Rockets

Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets are headed toward an ugly divorce during the summer of 2016. Much as Pau Gasol could be leaving the Chicago Bulls by opting out of his contract, Howard could do the same with Houston.

If both expected moves were to come to fruition, Gasol would be a nice fit in Houston.

The obvious concern is that James Harden has alienated many of his teammates with his isolation scoring tendencies. Thus, it stands to reason that Gasol would shy away from the possibility of playing alongside a star who’s been accused of playing for himself.

Heaven only knows Harden wouldn’t be the first ball-dominant scoring guard Gasol has played with.

Houston’s decision on who’s hired as the next head coach will go a long way towards influencing Gasol’s potential decision. The same can be said for whether or not Harden is successful in recruiting friend, former teammate, and ex-Texas Longhorns star Kevin Durant.

If any player can balance out Harden’s isolation tendencies, it’s Gasol.
