Ranking The Top NBA Players By Age: Age 25
20. Iman Shumpert
The fact that J.R. Smith — a renowned sixth man and notorious feast-or-famine player — is starting at the 2 for the Cleveland Cavaliers should tell you everything you need to know about how badly Iman Shumpert has failed to grow as a player. Well, at least to this point in his career.
In his fifth NBA season, Shumpert is averaging a career-low 5.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 24.4 minutes per game. He’s also shooting career worsts from the field (37.4 percent) and three-point range (29.5 percent), even if his leaping abilities are often so impressive they make us forget.
To be fair, Shumpert started off the season recovering from injury. But his shooting numbers have actually gotten worse compared to when he first returned, so even though his impact on the defensive end is undeniable, it’s a bit disappointing he hasn’t been able to at least knock down a three every now and then on offense.
