Andre Drummond is a dominant rebounder and a dramatically improved isolation scorer who’s establishing his value defensively. He’s regressed statistically since his torrid start to the season, but Drummond has undoubtedly solidified his place in the Top 20.
As a double-double machine who leads the league in both rebounds and offensive rebounds per game, Drummond is anchoring the Detroit Pistons’ push for the postseason.
Drummond has recorded a double-double in a league-best 66 games in 2015-16. For what it’s worth, Detroit is 4-9 in the 13 games he’s failed to post at least 10 points and 10 rebounds, and is 38-28 when he’s successful in doing so.
Suddenly, Drummond’s double-double tally doesn’t seem like such a meaningless statistic.
Drummond wasn’t at his best this past week, but he still managed to provide a positive impact on both ends. Most notably, he had 13 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks, and a steal as Detroit escaped with a 108-104 victory over the Orlando Magic.
Detroit leads the Chicago Bulls by 2.5 games with three outings remaining on the schedule, which means it’s a meltdown away from the playoffs.
