50 Greatest NBA/ABA Players Not In the Hall Of Fame
By Phil Watson
The Cleveland Cavaliers were looking for their franchise big man when they took North Carolina 7-footer Brad Daugherty first overall in the 1986 NBA Draft.
And he was, just far too briefly.
Daugherty was an All-NBA pick in 1991-92.
But a balky back knocked him out of action in 1994 and never allowed him to return to the court. After two years away from the game trying to get back into playing condition, Daugherty retired in 1996, ending an eight-year career.
He averaged 19 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 36.5 minutes per game, shooting .532/2-for-14/.747.
His 53.2 percent shooting mark is 41st in NBA history and his average of 36.5 minutes per game ranks 34th.
