Sweet-shooting Glen Rice led Michigan to its lone national championship before the fledgling Miami Heat made him the fourth overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft before the franchise’s second NBA season.

Rice rose to stardom in Miami before he was part of the package for Alonzo Mourning, traded to the Charlotte Hornets on the eve of the 1995-96 season.

In Charlotte, Rice was a two-time All-NBA selection and led the league in 3-point shooting in 1996-97, knocking down 47.0 percent on 5.6 attempts per game.

He later picked up a championship ring as a solid role player at the 3 for the Los Angeles Lakers in 1999-2000 and finished his career bouncing from the New York Knicks to the Houston Rockets to a brief cameo with the Los Angeles Clippers before he was waived out of the league in January 2004.

Rice averaged 18.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 35.0 minutes per game over 15 NBA seasons, shooting 45.6 percent overall and 40 percent on 3.9 deep tries a game.

Rice ranks 26th in career 3-pointers with 1,559 and 40th in career long-range attempts with 3,896, while he is 46th on the career list at 40.0 percent.
