3. The Sky Is Not Falling

Fans watching the Warriors lose at home probably felt a lot like Xerxes watching the Spartans kill his Immortals, with a very human shiver running up their spines. But even with this unfortunate reminder of their own mortality, Golden State’s sky is not falling just yet.

If the Warriors are able to win out at home against Portland, Minnesota, San Antonio and Memphis, they’ll tie the 1985-86 Boston Celtics’ all-time best home record of 40-1. Even if they lose one of those games, they’ll still have a chance to tie last season’s unbelievable mark of 39-2.

At times like these, it’s important to take a quick inventory for perspective. That 73-win mark is still within reach and assuming fatigue isn’t a major factor here, this wakeup call should supply one of the NBA’s all-time great teams with the adrenaline shot it needs to close out strong.

There are far more pressing issues at hand than going undefeated at home or reaching 73 wins, but just the fact that we’re even talking about those things is remarkable. The Dubs should still be considered heavy favorites to win the title, so assuming everyone can return healthy, Golden State is not going to care about one home loss in a few months if they repeat as NBA champions.
